splogsplosion - at Google

Hey..
Do you know what is splogsplosion? It is formed from the words splogs (spam blogs) and explosion.
This word has been used by Tim Bray, technology director at Sun Microsystems Inc., to describe the automated spam blog attacks.

Now this has happened at Google through its freely available blogging site Blogspot.com . These splog entries consist of major keywords people used to search for. The results returned for the queries with these keywords listed these fake entries in the top places and this was the major problem bloggers faced due to the attack.

IESL - 99th Annual Sessions

This is a notice from the Institute of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) about the 99th annual sessions.

The 99th Annual Sessions of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka would be inaugurated at the BMICH on October 21, 2005 at 0900 hrs. Honorable Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse would be the Chief Guest. The two Guests of Honour would be Hon. Minister of Urban Development and Water Supply, Dinesh Gunawardena and Vidya Jyothi Eng. (Dr) A N S Kulasinghe, a Past President of the Institution.

The inaugural sessions would be followed on Saturday the 22nd by a Seminar on ‘ Regional Impact of the Sethusamudram Canal Project’, which would be held at the Wimalasurendra Auditorium of the Institution from 0900 hrs to 1400 hrs. A panel of experts representing various sectors that would be affected by the project is expected to make presentations on topics related to commercial issues, engineering, environment, fisheries, legal issues, ports and shipping at the seminar.

Presentations of Papers would be held for three consecutive days commencing from Monday- October 24. There would be sessions both in the mornings and in the afternoons.

A visit to Ceylon Tobacco Company at Kotahena has been arranged on Thursday – October 27, 2005. A bus will leave the IESL headquarters at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 7 to the Ceylon Tobacco Company in the morning and return in the evening.

The Members of the Young members Section of the Institution would present their papers on Friday – October 28, 2005.

The Sessions will conclude with the Annual General Meeting on Saturday – October 29, 2005. The meeting, which would commence at 0900 hrs, would be held at the Auditorium 2 of the Institution at Wijerama Mawatha.

Concurrent with the Annual Sessions, the Techno Exhibition 2005 would be held at the New Sirimavo Bandarnaike Exhibition Centre from October 21 to 23, 2005.

Tips and Tricks for Hacking Google

I couldn't post anything for a long time. There were lots of reasons behind that including my trip to Jaffna for a week.

Anyway, I have got really really useful information for the Google fans. Just go through and you will definitely raise your eye-brows.
